PEER REVIEW PROCESS
The peer review wants to ensure that only good science is published in JSEG. Our referees play an important role in maintaining the standards of the Journal of Smart Economic Growth, which is why all incoming manuscripts are peer reviewed following the procedure outlined below.
One of the Chief Editors first evaluates all submitted manuscripts. Each paper will be evaluated by 2 reviewers based on a set of objective criteria. Their assessments allow placing the paper in one of the following categories:
(1) Accepted without revisions;
(2) Accepted with minor revisions;
(3) Accepted with major revisions;
(4) Rejected.
In case that a paper will be differently evaluated by the reviewers, another reviewer will be invited to bring the third evaluation. This leads to an objective assessment of each paper.
The referees remain anonymous to the author(s) throughout and following the refereeing process, whilst the identity of the author(s) is likewise unknown to the reviewers.
Whenever possible, referees are matched to the paper according to their expertise. As our reviewer database is constantly being updated, we welcome suggestions for referees.
Referees are asked to evaluate whether the manuscript:
- Is original
– Is methodologically created
- Follows appropriate ethical guidelines
- Has results which are clearly presented and support the conclusions
Language correction is not part of the peer review process, but referees are encouraged to suggest corrections of language and style to the manuscript.
The time required for the review process is dependent on the response of the referees. For the Journal Journal of Smart Economic Growth, the typical time for the first round of the refereeing process is approximately 4 weeks, with a maximum of two months.
A final decision to accept or reject the manuscript will be sent to the author along with the recommendations made by the referees.
Referees advise the Chief Editor, who is responsible for the final decision to accept or reject the article.
